FAQ for SCORM

Q: Could you kindly let me know if your courses are SCORM 1.2 compliant and if they are compatiable with Moodle LMS?

A: Yes indeed our courses are SCORM 1.2  compliant, infact all our courses are compatiable with most SCORM packaes such as Moodle

Q: If a person completes the DSE assessment and then 4 weeks later move areas etc. can they revisit without using up another licence?

A: As long as your moodle is on an external server i.e with access to the internet then anyone can re-visit the DSE assessment as many times as they want, from whereever they are provided they have internet access wherever they go.
If your moodle is only an internal system (intranet) then it would not be possible for anyone to view anything from outside the hospital.

Q: Do separate logins need to be set up?

A: The administrator (yourself) is purely in charge of setting up every individual with an account which will have individual usernames and passwords.

Q: If legislation changes how would we update?

A: We monitor legislation changes . If any legislation changes then ETD will upgrade the course and advise you. If your agreement with us is for a number of years – this would be free of charge.

Q:How do we report on assessment activity?

A: Again, as I am not familiar with your Moodle system, I couldn’t really tell you how to report any assessment activity. I’m pretty sure there is a way of doing it on your system, but as I am unfamiliar with your moodle system, I couldn’t help you.

Q: What support do you offer and at what cost?

A: ETD training are only supplying the content of the course but if you do have any problems regarding course content etc. then do give us a shout.  We are open from Monday  - Thursday 08.30 – 17.00 and Friday 08.30 – 16.00.

If you have any problems with your SCORM (Moodle) then that really isn’t our area of work. However if you do have problems with moodle then the official website for moodle (www.moodle.org) have a support forum, which I gather is pretty quick in response to any problems regarding Moodle.

Q: Is there any requirement re Moodle versions?

A: Generally our SCORM courses are compatible for pretty much all Moodle software so that should not be any issue

Q: On the first page can the reference to Osmond Workplace Solution be taken out as this is not a company we use and we would not want anybody approaching them for equipment unless they had a formal assessment identifying that specialist equipment was needed.

A: I have asked and this does not seem to be a problem

Q: Following the section on laptop use would it be possible to have the reference to EDT’s manual handling course removed.

A: Not easily I am afraid  – I suppose the answer is yes but with some extra cost due to time involved as it means going into the course and re-editing the content.

Q: After the quiz on the last page there is a checklist – is this supposed to be their self assessment form?  We would need to put something in here to say that staff now need to undertake their own assessment and link it to the trust documentation.

A: Yes this could be done.  However we would ask you to send a bespoke page of this self assessment form to us and any other relevant documentation.

Q: One other minor point about the programme overall is that there seems to be very long pauses between each section and I would be concerned that the staff miss pages out as they will click on the go to  next page before this one loads can we check if this is possible and if there is a means for the package to alert us if they just skip through pages.

A: This is something we are working on but with the course content being on your system and server then you will not be reliant on our server speed. I would imagine that the speed will be considerably faster than the speed of our system. In all fairness if you are looking at training 800 – 1000 people then I would say that your servers will do the trick.
