Technical Requirements - ETD Online Training

To enhance your browsing experience of ETD training and to view content correctly the following technical requirements are necessary:

Up-to-date web browser

Company Internet Policies

Some companies/workplaces/organisations will restrict/block video content. If this is the case you must ask your IT department to unblock video content for the ETD training site. Alternatively, pass their information on to us and we will do it for you.

Flash Player Requirements

You need at least Flash Player Version 8 to view the video content. If you do not have Flash installed, you can get it free from Adobe.com.

Without Flash, none of the videos or animated sections on the website or training system will play. You can download the latest free Adobe Flash Player at the following link: Adobe.com

Flash 'add-ons' Should be Enabled (Internet Explorer)

  • In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Manage add-ons. Select "add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer" in the drop-down menu
  • Check if any add-ons are disabled
  • If add-ons are disabled, click on the item and in the bottom "Settings", choose enable
  • Close and restart the browser

Firewall & Proxy Settings

Incorrectly setting Proxy and Firewall settings will result in the inability to view videos. To rule out a personal firewall configuration as a problem, temporarily disable your security software and set your Internet Explorer security to default to attempt an unobstructed connection. If you are now able to connect, you must correctly configure your personal firewall to allow the player access to the Internet.

Bandwidth Requirements

Due to the video content in ETD, if you do not have broadband and are using a dial-up connection you will experience difficulty viewing the training system. The recommended speed should be greater than 400kbps (0.4Mbps) You can check your internet speed at the following link: internetfrog.com

Javascript and Cookies

In order to use the ETD training system you must have Javascript and Cookies enabled in your browser. Use your browser settings to enable Java Script. In Internet Explorer:

  • Select 'Tools' from the top menu
  • Choose 'Internet Options'
  • Click the 'Security' tab. Click 'Custom Level'. Scroll down until you see the section labelled 'Scripting'
  • Under 'Active Scripting', select 'Enable' and click 'OK'. Restart your browser.

Sound:

Without speakers or headphones attached to your computer you will be unable to hear sound.
