ETD Company Profile

ETD online training courses were developed to take a range of specialist regulatory training skills and convert them into cost effective courses for industry and commerce and various public sector institutions and workplaces such as the NHS.

The initial stimulus came from the considerable experience gained during time spent working with the NHS in the field of manual and patient handling by Hospital Direct Ltd. This experience has made ETD able to provide safety training wherever it is needed from schools to manufacturing, healthcare to retail.

All ETD Courses are written by professional training staff with many years experience and are all CPD accredited.

FAQ's

What data can be collected and monitored with the ETD training system?

As a manager you can see the dates when training was taken, the progress of users, test scores, and online forms (such as risk assessment forms). This data can be grouped into categories that you specify, for example by job title, region or department.

Who has access to the training records?

The manager of the system has access to all the data collected. From the manager control panel additional managers can be created. This means you can easily give anybody you wish access to safety training records by simply creating a username and password for them (health and safety inspectors or the HSE for example).

What else is included with a courses?

Once a user has watched a training course and passed the test, they can download an accredited certificate. ETD takes the safety training process a step further with online forms and checklists that serve to strengthen your compliance with HSE guidelines. Thus, not only do you have a secure online record that training has been giving, but you also have a record of the steps you and your staff take post-training. For example in the Manual handling training course users have the option to complete online risk assessments, where the can quickly risk assess all of the tasks they carry out at work. These forms are sent to the manager for approval and can be amended and reviewed at anytime. Access to this data can temporally or permanently be given to anybody you wish.

How much do the Training courses cost?

Depending on the number of licenses you require the courses can cost as little as £5 per user.

Why Health and safety E-learning?

Learning via the internet makes it possible to give a consistent message to a large number of people regardless of their location. Users can complete the training courses at any suitable time and records of training can be stored safely online - eliminating the paperwork accumulated from safety training.

What Software do I need to be able to run the courses?

Because the ETD system is all based online, there are only very basic requirements. View these requirements.

Can the user print a certificate of training?

Yes, when a user has completed the course they can print a certificate. The certificate is also saved to their user profile.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes, however the trial has limited functionality and the reporting and monitoring tools have been disabled. Sign up for a Free Trial.

Does a user have to complete a training course all at once?

No, after each section which lasts 5-10 minutes, the user's progress is automatically saved. Next time they login they can resume where they left off.

How long does it take to complete a training course?

Depending on the course they can be completed within 30 minutes. The training courses will take slightly longer if you wish to take advantage of the online forms and checklists, however they where designed with time and ease-of-use in mind and will certainly be quicker and more effective than using 'traditional' risk assessment methods.

Is online safety training enough to effectively train staff?

ETD training courses are the most comprehensive on the market and fulfil all of the criteria that the Health and Safety Executive and other government bodies set. Some more complex training courses incorporate an optional practical aspect, whereby the assessor uses the ETD system as a tool to record evidence of practical training. However the training courses are more than adequate if you are simply looking to fulfil basic legal requirements.

How many times can a user take a course?

Unlike other online safety providers, a user on the ETD system can take the course as many times as they wish. After they complete the course in its entirety, they can revisit any section making the courses act as a quick reference guide to quickly check guideline figures or best working practices.

Can the system be branded to my company?

Yes, by request your company or organisations logo can appear on the ETD training system.

Can I buy an individual licence?

Yes, a single licence can be purchased if you are an individual who wishes to be trained. You will receive the certificate of training once you have completed the course. The reporting aspect will be disabled.
